2019 Singlefile Small Batch Bush Vine Grenache

2019 Singlefile Small Batch Bush Vine Grenache
Add To Cart

This Grenache is from the Frankland River sub-region of the Great Southern.  Grenache is well suited to the warm days and cold nights of Frankland with its gravelly soils. Harvested on the 3rd April 2019, the fruit was picked and cold soaked for four days in a small open fermenter. Wild fermentation was allowed to start the ferment before a selected yeast strain was added after a third of the way through ferment. The wine was pressed into French oak barrels where it stayed for nine months before bottling.

A richer styled Grenache with floral aromas of violets, dark berries and subtle spices. These characters follow through on the palate which has a nice plush mouth feel with medium weight and subtle fine tannins and a long flavoursome finish. A wine to be enjoyed with fine food.

Bottle 393/538.

Needs 30 mins of air to reach full potential.

Deep ruby red in the glass. An enticing and highly aromatic nose of native pepper berry, tobacco and leather. Medium length delicate palate. Smooth early with a mild / moderate tannic finish. Early flavours of cherry, black currant and smoke. Finishes with tobacco, leather and pepper berry. Paired fantastically with Bolognaise pasta tonight. Delicious easy drinking.

The room went quiet as my tasters took a sip of this beautiful wine. It has a dark red colour, spicy flavours, mixed with the taste of wild berries. Leaves a very smooth and subtle taste on the tongue. Will go with any style of food

With much excitement I had to dig the corkscrew out of the drawer to get amongst this small batch Grenache from one of my favourite producers of the Great Southern - Singlefile Wines. Medium ruby colour in the glass a pronounced perfumed bouquet of strawberry, cinnamon/spice and the tell tale Grenache confectionary leapt from the glass. A medium to full body wine with ample acid the tannins were present yet fine grained and easy to take. Flavours of stewed strawberries and raspberries from the no doubt pristine fruit along with a touch of vanilla and pepper from well integrated oak leave you wanting another sip straight after the long finish has melted away. Total stunner. Perfect wine for the upcoming winter!!
