VINEYARD & WINEMAKING
This Grenache is from the Frankland River sub-region of the Great Southern. Grenache is well suited to the warm days and cold nights of Frankland with its gravelly soils. Harvested on the 3rd April 2019, the fruit was picked and cold soaked for four days in a small open fermenter. Wild fermentation was allowed to start the ferment before a selected yeast strain was added after a third of the way through ferment. The wine was pressed into French oak barrels where it stayed for nine months before bottling.
THE WINE
A richer styled Grenache with floral aromas of violets, dark berries and subtle spices. These characters follow through on the palate which has a nice plush mouth feel with medium weight and subtle fine tannins and a long flavoursome finish. A wine to be enjoyed with fine food.
Needs 30 mins of air to reach full potential.
Deep ruby red in the glass. An enticing and highly aromatic nose of native pepper berry, tobacco and leather. Medium length delicate palate. Smooth early with a mild / moderate tannic finish. Early flavours of cherry, black currant and smoke. Finishes with tobacco, leather and pepper berry. Paired fantastically with Bolognaise pasta tonight. Delicious easy drinking.
