VINEYARD & WINEMAKING

The Blue Lake vineyard is an established dry grown vineyard. It is situated on the south-west plains of the Mount Barker sub-region. Blue Lake vineyard consistently provides excellent growing conditions.

The 2024 growing season delivered early ripening conditions for growing premium riesling in the Great Southern region. There was good rainfall over winter. Spring was reasonably dry and summer was hot which resulted in the riesling harvest being four weeks earlier than normal. Careful vineyard management meant the fruit retained a beautiful natural acidity which forms the backbone of this wine.

The primary focus of the winemaking process was to preserve the delicate flavours and aromas of the vineyard’s fruit. The fruit was handpicked and whole-bunch pressed on 22 February 2024. The juice was cold settled and fermented at a temperature of 14°C. It was then left to rest until preparation for bottling in June 2024.

THE WINE

The colour is light and pristine, and the aromatics display powerful pithy lime and lemon with enticing notes of citrus blossom. The palate is characterised by the powerful acidic drive of the wine. Dry and elegant, the wine showcases flavours of intense lime juice and zest, with notes of lemon blossom and river stone minerality (which will develop further with bottle age). The wine has a clean, refreshing finish, with a lingering lemony acidity.

Easily my all time favourite Riesling. Bright, crisp, perfectly dry. Couldn't recommend this drop enough.

The moment you open this little beauty you are hit with the aroma’s of lemon blossom and lime tantalisingly teasing you to drink up. Just a hint of yellow on the colour though very pale and crystal clear like a mountain stream. Lovely dry style with crisp green apple and lime flavours balanced in harmony with acidity and minerality. Purest expression of the grape and one of my favourite Rieslings in Australia! Oh and did I mention Riesling is a true chameleon in matching a wide range of foods (including some tricky ones). Had this little gem with a Sri Lankan Pineapple Curry - perfect paring just sorry we finished the bottle so soon!

One of my favourites from Singlefile. This Riesling could not be faulted. When you poor the glass you will see some very soft colours with only a tinge of yellow. When you take that first sip, right from the start you get an incredible hit of citrus that isn't too much and perfectly balanced with some slight acidity and a long smooth finish. I'm looking forward to having some of these during the summer months.

Light in colour, this wine has a soft and quiet nose, with just a hint of apple. On the palate we find a bone dry, firm wine, with mineral and citrus characteristics complimented with persistent acidity. I would leave this wine in the cellar for five years to let it develop more complexity. We paired the wine with roast pork loin and a green apple relish, but unfortunately this didn’t work well.

Very pale in the glass. Lavender and jasmine in the bouquet. Mild lemon, orange peel, passion fruit and a green apple acid finish.

This is a dry wine and the acid finish makes it marvellous.

This wine featured light and refreshing acidity with apple and citrus flavours. Minerality and overall structure and balance provided a good length carry on the palate and a wine perfectly paired to charcuterie boards.

No need for a long or complicated review of this wine when a simple explanation will do the job. If you only get to drink one Riesling from WA before you die then this is it.

The palest of colour with a youthful green tinge. This wine is super fresh and floral with some green apple and citrus. fantastic length and acid that makes this so delicious. Amazing with some fish n chips on a hot summer's night.

The Mount Barker 2022 Riesling may be young, but oh boy, is it fine!!! Citrus and Limestone minerality are your oral keynotes, with the scent of almost ripe nectarines, and crisp green apple wafting from the glass. This dry and acidic wine is perfectly balanced and has a lingering finish to refresh your palate whilst enjoying a simple and classic creamy pasta, such as carbonara. Riesling always goes with creamy pasta dishes. Impress your date, or dinner guests by serving this stunning wine alongside a homemade prawn and saffron risotto, a creamy sausage gnocchi, or a carbonara with fatty pancetta. Even better, buy a 6 pack and appreciate this beautifully crafted wine year by year, and watch the flavours develop with time.

This Riesling has a lovely lemony frangrance and is a fresh light and crisp drop with bright citrus flavour and a lingering finish. A lovely pairing to a summer Sunday afternoon by the pool.

This is a beautiful wine. Crisp citrus notes and a hint of honey make it the perfect summer afternoon wine, enjoyed with oysters. It also holds potential for aging, promising even more complexity in a few years.

A crisp, fresh Riesling with hints of lemon and honey. Each sip is encased with the subtle tang of lime juice and a refreshing kiss of zest that lingers, before rounding off to a reviving finish. Another standout drop from Singlefile!
