2023 Singlefile Single Vineyard Frankland River Grenache
VINEYARD & WINEMAKING
The Frankland River sub-region of the Great Southern is a premier red wine growing area of Western Australia. The plantings of grenache vines in the region are sparse and improving quickly as the vines age. The fruit for this wine is from the Riversdale Vineyard which, due to its north facing orientation and soil profile, delivers exceptionally high-quality fruit.
After picking and sorting the grenache, fermentation took place in a small open fermenter, and maceration was gentle, lasting fourteen days with minimal intervention. The wine was then aged in low toast French oak barriques for ten months. The wine was bottled in February 2024. It was then aged in bottle prior to release.
THE WINE
This grenache subtly requests your attention by drawing you to its perfumed red berry, cranberry-like, aromatics. It also shows delicate secondary aromas of spices, and earthy and herbal undertones which will continue to develop with further bottle aging.
The medium bodied palate showcases a delicate embrace of fine-grained tannins, typical of grenache, noticeable from the outset. Transitioning smoothly, the wine offers a voluptuous mouthfeel revealing intricate savoury notes and the return of those fine tannins in the long, dry finish. This wine is ideally savoured alongside good food.
