VINEYARD & WINEMAKING

The 2023 growing season delivered ideal conditions for growing premium riesling in the Great Southern region. There was good rainfall over winter. Spring was reasonably dry and summer held slightly cooler temperatures which allowed for the ideal lemon and lime riesling flavours to develop while, importantly, the fruit retained a beautiful natural acidity which forms the backbone of this wine.

The parcels of fruit were brought into the winery, the free run juice undergoing a long and slow cold fermentation in stainless steel immediately after the pressing. This ensures the pristine floral and citrus fruit characters are preserved. The wine underwent very gentle lees stirring to add subtle texture before preparation for bottling. The wine was bottled in June 2023.

THE WINE

The colour is bright and pale gold, and the aromatics display classic Great Southern riesling characters of apple blossom and citrus. The palate shows a dry styled riesling displaying lime zest, Granny Smith apple and subtle mineral undertones. The finish is clean, with mouthwatering acidity and a lingering fruit presence. The light lees work adds a softly textured, supple mouthfeel. It is anticipated in time this wine will evolve to display pronounced minerality and richness, while retaining its refreshing acidity.

I am in now way a professional when it comes to tasting and reviewing wines, but as someone who is a Riesling fan, this is hands down my favourite Riesling. I love great southern Rieslings and am drawn to the dry, balanced crispness that can be found among the variety of the region, but the Singlefile Great Southern Riesling stands out as a perfect stand alone white, or accompaniment to anything from a Friday night thai takeaway to a Sunday seafood spread. I always keep a bottle of this in my fridge....

Even though this Riesling is very young (2019 Riesling) it does have a delicate aroma with a subtle intensity. If drinking it while young, then have it with a sharp cheese and some salty olives. Otherwise, it will only improve immensely with time.

I’ve never been one for Riesling but this bottle has definitely changed my opinion. We enjoyed the bottle with a nice chicken Caesar salad. It was crisp and refreshing and not too sweet or dry. definitely a winner 🎉

An excellent Riesling with fantastic aroma’s of citrus flavours that encapture what is a quality wine. The colour is typically light with the palate sitting long with you into a crisp finish. Whilst we drank as an aperitif it will clearly match a variety of foods. A very impressive wine that will only getter better with age, if you can wait.

Any Singlefile Riesling is a winner if you ask me. The Rieslings produced here are what got me into Great Southern wines in the first place. This wine has a fruity and sweet aroma, however has a dry, acidic and fresh taste. We usually have it with fresh seafood and it pairs like a dream.

Quite light and easy to drink; a good way to dip your toe into the dry Riesling pool. Citurs fruit, minerality and acid are all subtle but gently steered into an acceptable, almost old world wine. Drink accordingly.

A great example of a West Australian Riesling, fresh citrus flavours with nice acidity. This one will also cellar well!, great value for $25 and easily one of the best rieslings in the area.

I love a good Riesling especially on a warm afternoon near the pool. This Riesling is lemon yellow with green reflections. On the nose it exhibits Green apple melon and passion fruit with a lovely stony minerality. The palate is fresh with mouthwatering racy acidity and a crisp dry finish which makes this wine very moreish. Love this wine wish I had more.

Pale green colour, nose has hints of lychee and citrus, certainly lemon, tastes of lemon and lime, lightly acidic and traces of minerality. Gorgeously subtle young Riesling, will develop with age. I really like this wine!

Having spent a lot of time in the Great Southern I have tasted a lot of Riesling's, this one from Singlefile is right up there in my calculations. This wine is so versatile and can be quaffed around the house or taken to dinner parties to impress. Price is also on point.

I come from the home of Riesling, Alsace, and it is one of my favourite white grape variety. In the almost 7 years I've been in Australia, I've not come across a wine that does so much justice to the Riesling appellation. The colour is very nice, very light yellow, slightly aniseed green. On the nose, there are citrus fruits and green apples, but also, at the back, a little tobacco leaf, very subtle and very chic. On the palate, this Riesling is dry and crisp, a little mineral and very fresh. The taste is rich, velvety with a nice length in the mouth. It can be accompanied by seafood but also by Umami flavours, such as parmesan or porcini risotto. Otherwise, it can also be drunk as an aperitif - this Riesling stands on its own and we love it.

in 3 words - Bright, clean, delicious. Immediately this wine presents citrus and pear aromas, intensifying as the wine breathes and relaxes. It is pale in the glass, with a beautiful slightly oily viscosity like only the best Rieslings. The well-balanced acid in this wine drives the length of flavour and lingers on the palate like a delicate sherbert. it is balanced by the beautiful flavours of key lime and white peach, with a hint of flint. What a spectacular wine. Give it a decade and you'll be rewarded - if you have the patience.

The perfect bottle for the Savvy blanc drinker to be converted to Riesling, tropical fruiton the nose , soft on the pallete due to the lees stirring softening the acid with a lovely lingering finish. Drink young to enjoy the amazing fruit. we decanted the 2 nd half of the bottle and as it warmed slightly the tropical nose made way for a savoury nose. Amazing example of cool climate Riesling

This Riesling presents sweeter than the usual Singlefile Riesling. It's fairly soft in its approach, opening with honey dew melon and further expanding to an almost burnt sugar top note. While it is slightly sweeter, it stays fresh, and I would recommend paring it with something acidic to lift, but not too overpowering. I paired with preserved white anchovies with lemon. The Singlefile Riesling is a favourite in my house, another winner!

What an absolute cracking Reisling from Singlefile. Incredibly easy drinking from your first taste, lovely acidity and then great dryness in your mouth. Wonderful addition to any lunch or evening meal. Highly recommended if you're a reisling lover!
