Five Perth BYO restaurants to enjoy with a favourite bottle
There is a particular pleasure in choosing a bottle from your collection, gathering a few friends and leaving the cooking to someone else. Perth’s BYO restaurants offer plenty of opportunities to do just that, from neighbourhood pasta bars to welcoming dining rooms serving generous plates made for sharing.
Whether you are opening something you have been saving or exploring a new wine pairing, these five restaurants offer good reason to bring a bottle of Great Southern wine to the table.
Casual Dining
Francoforte Spaghetti Bar, Northbridge
Tucked down Williams Lane, Francoforte Spaghetti Bar is a long-time Northbridge favourite for comforting Italian food. Its small, considered menu offers satisfying spaghetti dishes alongside antipasto and polenta chips, with vegetarian and vegan options available.
The Porco Rosso and Eggplant Sugo are particularly appealing choices for an unhurried dinner. When choosing wine with pasta, let the sauce guide you: a tempranillo would sit comfortably alongside tomato-based dishes, while a Frankland River shiraz would complement a richer, meat-based sauce.
BYO is available for wine only, with corkage charged at $7 per person.

KCH, North Perth
Named for Kuching, the capital of Sarawak in Malaysia and the hometown of chef Calvin Chong, KCH brings the comforting flavours of Malaysian hawker food to North Perth. This modest neighbourhood eatery has earned a devoted following, winning the WA Good Food Guide’s Best Casual Dining award in 2021.
Order the house speciality laksa or char kway teow and bring a wine with enough freshness to balance the richness of the food. Fiano is a lovely option for its texture and bright acidity, while a lightly chilled pinot noir would suit those who prefer a red. For dishes with a little more heat, an aromatic Great Southern riesling is another thoughtful choice.
BYO is offered free of charge.
The Prophet, East Victoria Park
A family-owned restaurant serving Lebanese food on Albany Highway since 2001, The Prophet has long been a favourite for generous, homely meals shared around the table.
Begin with Baba Ghanouj and Fried Kibbeh before moving on to Shish Kebab or Shish Tawook. A dry rosé is a versatile companion to a spread of dips, herbs and grilled dishes, while grenache would work beautifully with the savoury flavours of the meat.
Book ahead for this small and welcoming restaurant. BYO is available; confirm the current corkage charge when making your reservation.
A Little Fancier
Lady of Ro, Subiaco
With its Greek and Mediterranean influences and seasonal menu designed for sharing, Lady of Ro is a welcoming spot for dinner with friends or a quiet evening for two.
Look out for saganaki, slow-cooked lamb and charred seafood, and leave room for soufra, the custard-soaked filo dessert. For those happy to let the kitchen lead, Yia Yia’s Table Menu offers a shared selection of dishes.
Fiano or vermentino would be lovely alongside the lighter plates. If you are considering wine with lamb, a medium-bodied shiraz offers a good balance of fruit, spice and savoury character.
Corkage is $12 per bottle when dining à la carte, and is included in Yia Yia’s Table Menu.

Il Santo, Claremont
Taking over the former Nolita site on Bay View Terrace, Il Santo is a neighbourhood osteria from the team behind Il Lido and Canteen Pizza. Handmade pasta, seasonal Italian dishes and an extensive Italian wine selection make it an inviting place to settle in over dinner.
Monday evenings offer an opportunity to bring something from your own collection. Let the seasonal menu guide your choice: a Great Southern chardonnay would be a lovely companion to a richer pasta dish, while an aged cabernet sauvignon would suit a beef main.
BYO wine is available on Mondays from 4pm, with a $15 corkage charge.
Salute! While you curate your wine selection for the evening, enjoy these fantastic local restaurants taking care of the cooking and washing up for you. Check the venue's websites for opening hours, booking requirements and menus.
