OUR FAMILY

Philip & Vivienne

After selling their mining consultancy business, Phil and Viv sought a new challenge. Their love of wine, shaped by travels through Old World wine regions, and the serendipitous discovery of the Singlefile site drew them to a new calling. With previous careers as geologists, they brought a deep respect for the land, applying their knowledge, curiosity, and work ethic to vineyard life. Living on the Denmark property, they play an active role in Singlefile’s daily rhythm: tending the estate vineyard, maintaining the grounds, and caring for the Cellar Door. Their presence is integral to Singlefile’s ongoing pursuit of excellence, from vineyard to glass.

OUR FAMILY

Patrick & Pamela

Pat & Pam’s journey with Singlefile is grounded in a shared vision and long-held love of wine. This passion was first sparked during their early years together living in Italy, where they developed an appreciation for wine that tells a story of place, and honours both craft and region. As co-founders alongside Phil and Viv, they embraced an ambition to reveal the finest expressions of the Great Southern’s cool-climate terroir. Today, Patrick leads Singlefile as managing director, playing an active role in wine production and shaping the winery’s evolution, while Pamela oversees day-to-day business operations with a steady hand and thoughtful care.

OUR STORY

A Family Pursuit

The idea for Singlefile was born during a summer in Italy, where Pat and Pam, then living abroad, joined Phil and Viv in exploring Old World wine regions — a journey that deepened their shared love of wine and inspired the dream of a family-owned winery. That vision came to life when Phil and Viv purchased the Denmark property, its established vines discovered serendipitously from a neighbouring block.

Together, the family combined their experience and passion to establish Singlefile, naming it after the resident geese whose evening procession in single file to the lake became a lasting symbol. The crest on Singlefile’s label reflects this union of heritage and ambition: the springbok for the Snowden family’s Southern African roots, the stag for Pat’s birthplace in Ireland, and their motto, Semper Superne Nitens — “the pursuit of excellence” — expressing their commitment to crafting wines of distinction from the Great Southern.
