2025 Run Free by Singlefile Pinot Grigio

VINEYARD & WINEMAKING

The 2025 growing season in the Great Southern delivered even temperatures and dry conditions. Harvest took place slightly earlier than usual due to the consistent weather and lower rainfall. This pinot grigio, grown in the Mount Barker subregion, displays lovely aromatics and fresh varietal flavour typical of its cool-climate terroir.

The fruit was picked just after dawn on the morning of 7 March. The fruit was brought into the winery and gently destemmed and pressed. The juice was then transferred directly into a stainless steel tank and temperature controlled to ensure a slow and gentle fermentation. The wine was then racked off the fermentation lees and left to rest until late May. It was then prepared for bottling. It was bottled early to help retain the fresh and delicate aromatics.

THE WINE

The colour is a glistening and delicate pale straw. This wine shows enticing aromatics, with a lifted bouquet of nashi pear and spring florals, a touch of citrus and warm nutty tones. There is just a hint of saline minerality, which follows through on the palate. Fresh flavours of nashi pear and crisp green apple are complemented by some lime and delicate honey notes. The mouthfeel is light and elegant with gentle, slightly waxy, texture. It is an approachable style with a soft, lingering and flavoursome finish. Enjoy as an aperitif or with a fresh garden salad or frittata.

This wine is definitely a crowd pleaser. Light and fresh, this would be perfect for summer afternoons eating alfresco. Pale gold in colour Beautiful nose of red apples and melon backed up by a nutty almond note. Slight wet stone minerality gives some complexity. The fresh palate is light with those tree fruits to the front. Good amount of acidity but not overbearing. A very nice easy drinking wine. Matched with a nice piece of fish it would be amazing

A nice fresh but a slight dryness to this delightful white. Pinot Gris is my favourite but this is a close second. We enjoyed it with a nibbles platter of cheese, onions, salami & olives. Would go nice with a dish of chicken or fish too. A real winner

They say addicts spend their lives trying to re-create that original hit that got them into all their trouble. For me it’s pinot grigio. I had my first hit of it in Tasmania oh, long ago, and it was a real wow moment. Little bundles of flavour ricocheted around my mouth with energy that was way of kilter with Tasmania. I’ve been searching for that moment ever since and with the Run Free Pinot Grigio… wham, it’s ba-ack. You’re not so much hit by the fruit as by the whole damn orchard. It puts every taste bud you have into overdrive. And it doesn’t let up. Even by, the end of the second glass, as you roll it around your mouth and open the back of your throat to spread those precious vapours up around your nose it’s a big holy moly experience. This is not a wine for long lunches but if you can smell the sea, hear the waves and have a big feed of fish and chips in front of you this is as good as it gets.

What a lovely and refreshing wine! The wine was crisp and paired beautifully with some cheese and crackers! This wine would be lovely in summer shared with friends.

I thought this was surprisingly well balanced. Viscous and ripe it has a amazing presence of flavour, easily drinkable!

My impression is perhaps coloured by drinking the outstanding family reserve chardonnay two days before. This said, this was a very good pairing with a seafood pasta lunch. The wine is straw coloured, has a fruity bouquet , giving way to a light, refreshing accompaniment to lunch.

Normally a red wine drinker I was pleasantly surprised by this drop. Look, Light fresh and clean, Smell Fresh Citrus with a light herbaceous hint, slight cut grass. Very refreshing to drink, easy drinking Summer white. Enjoyed the paired play list as well. Great idea!

This is the perfect summer wine, whether that's sipping it outside in the sunshine, or pairing it with bright summer salads and seafood. It's bright, light, clean, crisp and refreshing with light florals, Meyer lemon and crisp pear notes. I also loved the accompanying playlist - what a great idea!

As an occasional white wine drinker only with a preference to reds, having previously been blown away by Singlefile Wines, I was prepared to give the 2023 Run Free by Singlefile Pinot Grigio a go, and I wasn’t disappointed! An easy drinking summer wine, perfect for garden parties or enjoying as a refreshing glass with cheese as an appetizer. The palate is crisp, with hints of apple and melon and has a soft floral aroma, it’s light on acidity making it an easy drinking style. It would also pair perfectly with fresh summer salads like mango, chicken, spinach and pine nuts or with fish. Happy to recommend this wine to others as it also represents good value for money given the quality.

The 2023 Run Free Pinot Grigio is a beautifully delicate white wine which provided a nice body with a dry finish. Highly recommend. It wasn't paired with any food, just enjoyed nice and cold straight from the fridge watching a sunset over Seacliffe beach in Adelaide.

The 23 Pinot Grigio had little on the nose, the pear family filling the mid pallate with easily approachable acid consider the low PH, wanted to pair this wine with Salami and Charcuterie

Beautifully fresh and light wine. It gives unripe stone fruit; a touch of tart but mostly delicate sweetness. There is a slight grassy aftertaste that gives subtle dimension. This wine was sunshine in a glass, and was enjoyed thoroughly amongst friends on a front porch.

Incredibly crisp and clean wine. Light in colour and body, without losing flavour intensity. Tinned pineapple and fresh grapefruit flavours balance the assumed sweetness for this variety, making it slightly drier than expected. Very quaffable and easy drinker. A wine to suit (nearly) all palates!

This Pinot Grigio is crystalline to view in the glass, with notes of melon and grapefruit on the nose. It’s bright and fresh on the palate with flavors of crisp summer fruits. It’s bold and flavoursome - fine to enjoy by itself or with cheese, or to accompany a pasta or chicken dish.
