The Blue Lake vineyard is an established dry grown vineyard, the second oldest vineyard in the Great Southern, planted in 1971. It is situated on the south-west plains of the Mount Barker sub-region.

Mount Barker delivered excellent growing conditions, with winter and spring being reasonably dry and summer holding cooler temperatures. It was also the earliest vintage in many years with the Riesling grapes harvested on the 19th February.

The primary focus of the winemaking process was to preserve the delicate flavours and aromas of the vineyard’s fruit which was handpicked to avoid macerations (phenolics) and whole bunch pressed for the same reason. The juice was cold settled and fermented with a neutral yeast strain at a temperature of 14°C before preparation for bottling in June 2020.

The colour is light and the aromatics display a combination of citrus flavours of lemon and lime. The palate is characterised by the acidic drive of the wine. A dry riesling, the wine displays intense lime flavours with subtle minerality (which will develop further with age). The wine has a long finish with a lingering acidity.

Easily my all time favourite Riesling. Bright, crisp, perfectly dry. Couldn't recommend this drop enough.

The moment you open this little beauty you are hit with the aroma’s of lemon blossom and lime tantalisingly teasing you to drink up. Just a hint of yellow on the colour though very pale and crystal clear like a mountain stream. Lovely dry style with crisp green apple and lime flavours balanced in harmony with acidity and minerality. Purest expression of the grape and one of my favourite Rieslings in Australia! Oh and did I mention Riesling is a true chameleon in matching a wide range of foods (including some tricky ones). Had this little gem with a Sri Lankan Pineapple Curry - perfect paring just sorry we finished the bottle so soon!

One of my favourites from Singlefile. This Riesling could not be faulted. When you poor the glass you will see some very soft colours with only a tinge of yellow. When you take that first sip, right from the start you get an incredible hit of citrus that isn't too much and perfectly balanced with some slight acidity and a long smooth finish. I'm looking forward to having some of these during the summer months.

Light in colour, this wine has a soft and quiet nose, with just a hint of apple. On the palate we find a bone dry, firm wine, with mineral and citrus characteristics complimented with persistent acidity. I would leave this wine in the cellar for five years to let it develop more complexity. We paired the wine with roast pork loin and a green apple relish, but unfortunately this didn’t work well.

Very pale in the glass. Lavender and jasmine in the bouquet. Mild lemon, orange peel, passion fruit and a green apple acid finish.

This is a dry wine and the acid finish makes it marvellous.
