2022 Singlefile Single Vineyard Frankland River Shiraz Magnum
VINEYARD & WINEMAKING
Frankland River is arguably the premier shiraz growing sub-region of Western Australia and is recognised for its distinctive black fruit and black pepper characters. Shiraz from the Riversdale vineyard, planted in 1997 and one of the few north-facing sites, delivers the quintessential characteristics expected of fine Frankland River shiraz fruit.
The winter months saw above average rainfall that continued into early spring. Summer was mild and dry with good even temperatures. This provided excellent growing conditions which resulted in high quality juicy, fresh and vibrant shiraz.
After picking and sorting, fermentation took place in closed fermenters, and maceration was gentle lasting thirteen days with minimal pump-over interventions. The wine was then aged in medium toast French oak barriques for eleven months. Post bottling, this wine was aged further to allow to settle, integrate and develop prior to release.
This wine displays vibrant blackberries, currants, and subtle spicy aromas. The palate displays flavours of dark fruits, spice and savouriness which persist through to a long dry finish. It is a medium bodied style shiraz of power and complexity, with silky tannins and a refined delicacy. A shiraz to be enjoyed with fine food and friends.
