Denmark is now cold and wet – just as it should be in July. The 2010 vintages are now safely in barrels and tanks and are developing into fantastic wines – well we think they’ll be fantastic but time will tell!
Vine pruning in the Singlefile vineyard will commence shortly. Our viticulturist will focus on under-vine weed control as well as identifying damaged poles that require replacement.
We have recently completed a review of grape varietals in the vineyard and have decided to reduce our plantings of merlot and shiraz and replace them with riesling and pinot noir. Both riesling and pinot noir will be ideally suited to the Scotsdale Valley terroir. Singlefile will continue to produce small quantities of estate grown merlot and shiraz and have developed relationships with growers within the region whose vineyards are situated in areas climatically and geologically suited to the growing of fine merlot and shiraz grapes. The upper and lower blocks of Singlefile's chardonnay vines are now in great condition and yielding magnificent quality fruit.
