Denmark - Singlefile Wines - Single Vineyard wines of the Great Southern

Denmark

The Denmark sub-region of Great Southern is exceptionally well suited to the growing of cool climate Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon.

The home of Singlefile and its chardonnay vineyard are located within the Scotsdale Valley, just seven kilometers from Denmark on the southern tip of Western Australia. When Phil and Viv Snowden acquired the former Scotsdale Valley Estate property, it already had an established vineyard which had been planted in 1989.

Singlefile’s vineyard has near perfect conditions for growing cool climate chardonnay. Rain falls dominantly through the winter months and the area’s mean January temperature is lower than that of both the Mornington Peninsula and the Yarra Valley. The vineyard is meticulously maintained and grapes are hand picked in preparation for whole bunch pressing in the winery.

Use of chemicals is intentionally minimised and every effort is made to maintain soil health using ecologically friendly viticultural practices. Eco-friendly fungicides are used to ensure that the vineyard remains free of powdery mildew.

Singlefile makes two other single vineyard wines from Denmark, a Semillon Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir.
